Who we are

Astrolabe Institute is a K–12 homeschool enrichment program located at 44 Lawton Avenue, Oviedo, FL 32765. This Privacy Policy applies to astrolabeinstitute.com and to information families share with us when they contact us or enroll. You can reach us any time at director@astrolabeinstitute.com or 407-406-4990.

Information we collect

We only collect information that helps us run the program and stay in touch with families:

  • Enrollment information.When you submit our enrollment form, we collect the student's name and age, any allergies or medical conditions you choose to share, whether it is your first year with us, the parent or guardian's name, email, and phone number, an emergency contact, the classes selected, your tuition payment method, and the acknowledgments you agree to.
  • Messages you send us. If you email, call, or otherwise contact us, we keep the information you provide so we can respond and follow up.
  • Basic website analytics. Our website uses privacy-friendly analytics that measure aggregate traffic (such as page views and general location at the country/region level). These analytics do not use cookies to track you across other websites and are not used to build a personal profile of you.

We do not have a public account system, and we do not knowingly collect information directly from children. Information about a student is provided by a parent or guardian as part of enrollment.

How we use your information

We use the information families share to:

  • process and confirm enrollment and schedule any required enrollment interview;
  • communicate with you about classes, scheduling, events, and program updates;
  • support your child's health and safety during hands-on activities and fieldwork;
  • handle tuition, invoicing, and Step Up For Students scholarship arrangements; and
  • operate, maintain, and improve our website.

How your information is handled and shared

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We rely on a small number of trusted service providers to operate the program and the website:

  • Email delivery. Enrollment submissions are delivered to our staff inbox through an email service provider so we can review and act on them. We are not a database-backed website; enrollment details are sent to us by email and kept in our program records.
  • Website hosting and analytics. Our site is hosted on a third-party cloud platform that also provides the aggregate analytics described above.
  • Scholarship processing.If you use the Step Up For Students scholarship, payment is handled through Step Up's own portal under their terms and privacy practices.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety, rights, or property of our students, families, staff, or program.

Children's privacy

Because Astrolabe Institute serves K–12 students, much of the information we hold relates to minors. That information is provided to us by a parent or guardian, with their consent, for the purpose of enrollment and program participation. Our website is not directed at children for the purpose of collecting their personal information directly, and we do not knowingly do so. If you believe a child has provided us information without a parent's involvement, please contact us and we will remove it.

How long we keep information

We keep enrollment and contact information for as long as needed to run the program, maintain reasonable records, and meet legal or financial requirements. When information is no longer needed for these purposes, we take reasonable steps to dispose of it.

How we protect your information

We take reasonable measures to protect the information families share with us and limit access to those who need it to run the program. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information and to use reputable providers who do the same.

Your choices

You may ask us to review, update, or delete the personal information we hold about you or your child, and you may opt out of non-essential communications at any time. To make a request, email director@astrolabeinstitute.com. We may need to keep certain information to meet our recordkeeping or legal obligations.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will be communicated to enrolled families directly where appropriate.
