Astrolabe Institute is a hybrid educational homeschool enrichment program designed for families seeking structured academics, hands-on learning, and meaningful enrichment in a small-class environment.
We serve students in grades 3 through 12. Placement is based on ability and readiness rather than age alone, so every student starts at the level that fits them best.

No. Astrolabe Institute is a hybrid homeschool enrichment program. Families remain responsible for their child’s homeschool education while Astrolabe provides structured academic and enrichment classes.
We offer both core classes and electives, including Math, ELA, Science, History, Speech & Debate, Coding & Robotics, Culinary Arts, Art, Financial Literacy, Podcasting & Media Production, and more.
Yes. Classes are offered à la carte, allowing families to choose the courses that best fit their student’s needs.
Yes. Families may choose a one-day or two-day option. The only class that requires attendance on both days is Math, since it is designed as a two-day course.
Our English classes are split into two separate options: Writing & Grammar and Literature & Reading Comprehension. These classes meet on different days, giving families the flexibility to choose the option that best supports their child’s needs.
Yes. Weekly homework may be assigned. Homework is optional but strongly recommended so students stay aligned with the course and make steady progress.
Yes. Astrolabe follows a structured curriculum so students can complete coursework in a timely and organized manner.
Yes. Students may have periodic testing, quizzes, projects, labs, and demonstrations throughout the year.
Yes. Students participate in project-based learning, labs, demos, discussions, and interactive activities throughout the year.
Yes. Students may still participate in the science fair even if they are not taking Science at Astrolabe. We will provide a rubric and guidance so your child is supported throughout the process.
Yes. When we offer field trips, guest speakers, or special learning opportunities, we want all of our students to have access to those experiences whenever possible. Details, requirements, and any additional costs will be shared with families in advance.
Yes. Astrolabe Institute is a direct provider with Step Up For Students, and we accept both the Personalized Education Program (PEP) scholarship for Florida homeschoolers and the Family Empowerment Scholarship (FES). Tuition can be paid directly through the Step Up portal, no reimbursement paperwork.
Yes. Families who do not use Step Up may still enroll and will be invoiced directly.
No. Astrolabe is designed for motivated learners at different levels. Placement is based on readiness so students can be challenged appropriately without being placed in a cookie-cutter box.
Yes. Families complete the registration process, and new families may be asked to complete an interview before enrollment.
Homework is not meant to overwhelm families, but it is recommended because it helps students stay on pace and get the most out of the class.
Yes. Astrolabe operates as a structured drop-off program during scheduled class times.
We are located at 44 Lawton Avenue, Oviedo, FL 32765, in Seminole County. Families join us from Oviedo, Winter Springs, Winter Park, Casselberry, Lake Mary, Sanford, and across the greater Orlando area.
Classes meet on Tuesdays and Fridays. The 2026–27 academic year runs August 11, 2026 – April 30, 2027, 31 weeks of instruction.
Classes are small, capped at around 8–12 students, so instructors know each student by name and can adjust to individual readiness.
Tuition is per course, per quarter. Mathematics (our two-day course) is $465 per quarter; core academics such as Writing & Grammar, Literature, Social Studies, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and SAT Math Prep are $315 per quarter; electives such as Coding & Robotics, Speech & Debate, Art Explorers, and Culinary & Nutrition are $289 per quarter. Step Up For Students (PEP/FES) scholarship funds can be applied.
No, and that is by design. Unlike a parent-run co-op, Astrolabe is a professionally taught enrichment program: classes are led by subject-matter instructors, parents drop students off, and every class is kept small. You get the community of a co-op with the structure and quality of a private program.
